5 CUEs COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course assists the clinician in establishing a clear understanding of skilled clinical documentation and coding in Post-acute care settings. Clinicians will understand key components of documentation to support both skilled services and medical necessity. Participants will also learn strategies for developing and evolving a solid Plan of Care including goal writing for both progressive and maintenance level plans. Participants will leave equipped with workable strategies to both drive successful outcomes and execute defensible documentation. Learning Objectives 1. Understand the reimbursement system 2. Distinguish between CPT & ICD-10 coding 3. Determine appropriate CPT billing practices based on definitions/descriptions of commonly used CPT codes. 4. Describe and implement the key components of skilled documentation to support medical necessity and skilled services. 5. Drive the clinical direction of the Plan of Care: rehabilitative versus maintenance-type treatment and document services defensibly. 6. Determine appropriate goals for skilled maintenance therapy.
